It was a lot of fun transforming this screened in patio with a beautiful tile installed in a herringbone pattern. The client chose a wood grain tile with a rustic finish that reminds you that you are close to the beach. When we began the project we started by prepping the concrete surface. We used a concrete grinding blade to scuff the surface of the concrete floor and remove any seal coatings. After we removed all debris and opened up the pores of the concrete we began the tiling process.
During the tiling process, we used leveling clips and wedges to ensure every tile was installed on a level plane with the tiles around it. We install the tiles by applying thin-set mortar to the floor as well as the back side of the tiles to be sure that we achieve 100% surface contact. This particular floor was installed with a 1/8th inch grout line in a warm grey color. The grout we use is pre-sealed to ensure that the grout will resist staining and retain it’s brilliant color.
